HONOLULU, HI (Aug. 22, 2022) – Central Pacific Bank (CPB) has concluded its innovative Change for Charity campaign, which was launched to help address an unprecedented coin shortage experienced in the financial services industry, while also raising money for Hawaiʻi Foodbank to help fight hunger. CPB is proud to announce it collected an impressive $7,886.72 in coins. The CPB Foundation is also contributing an additional $5,000 bringing the grand total donated $12,886.72. CPB and Hawaiʻi Foodbank executives met today for the check presentation at CPB’s Main Branch in Downtown Honolulu.

“We are truly grateful for the incredible response from the public and we send a huge mahalo to everyone who brought their coins into a Central Pacific Bank branch,” said Central Pacific Bank Retail Markets and Operations Executive Vice President Kisan Jo. “Instead of sitting in jar doing nothing, those coins are now back in use and also helping put food on the table for those in need.”

“This was a first of its kind campaign and you never quite know for sure how it may turn out. We are thrilled to call the Change for Charity campaign a success as it collected much needed coins to be put into circulation, while also raising money for those in need,” said Central Pacific Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Brandt Farias.

“We are tremendously grateful to Central Pacific Bank, CPB Foundation and the public for this wonderful support. It is amazing to see the power of community pulling together—with this generous donation, we’ll be able to provide food for more than 27,000 meals to those in our community who are facing hunger,” said Hawaiʻi Foodbank President and Chief Executive Officer Amy Marvin.

CPB is pleased to partner with Hawaiʻi Foodbank, which can stretch your change further because it works directly with the Feeding America network and local distributors to secure large amounts of food below retail cost. Just $10 helps provide food for 21 meals. To learn more about Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s mission to fight hunger please visit: HawaiiFoodbank.org
